There should have been a DVD with the board. From the Getting Started section of that: You should probably also be looking at the datasheet for the board itself. Daatasheet only disadvantage of using the pull-down resistor to overdrive the pull-up is that you have to allow for the maximum pull-up current possible over temperature and process.

I just recentely started working with a new board: So a 1 kohm pull-down should do the trick. There may be default firmware on the board which allows you to connect some other way, but most likely the usual way to connect while developing is via the JTAG connector. Is it through ssh? This pulse is a flat 3,3V signal, no power up glitches or something. The data sheet says that this contains instructions for using the board with several different toolchains.
The board is supplied datasneet – no code, no OS. How do I load an application onto the board’s flash? If so, how is it possible to recuperate the board’s IP address.
